| ACHIEVEMENTS |
|
There is no gain saying in the fact that government no matter how benevolent can provide all the needs of the people. The people of the various communities forming the Area Office seemed to have realized this long time ago. Hence, they fully embraced community self help practices.
By the end of year 2006, over one hundred Community Development Associations (CDAs) were registered in the Area. The CDAs operate under an umbrella body called Community Development Council (CDC) and meets on the first Tuesdays of every month at Modakeke Town Hall by 10.00a.m.
Members of the CDC receive assistance from the Area Office in the form of supervision of their activities by Community Development officials in the Department of Social Development, Education, Information, Youth, Sports and Culture of the Area Office.
In addition, the Management of the Area Office, in line with the policy of the Osun State Government gives out annual grant to selected self-help projects within its area of jurisdiction. The following tables show the list of beneficiaries with effect from year 2004 to date.

| AKORAYE DAY ANNUAL CELEBRATION |
|
The notion-behind the Modakeke Akoraye day celebration, originated out of the curiosity to find an innovative outlet towards community development. It is indeed an idea to make easy the conventional idea of self-help development in support of the efforts of government on the issue, since the government cannot favourably provide all necessary facilities to her citizenry.
Akoraye days main objective was to raise fund and promote solidarity among the citizenry. This idea first came up in 1977 when the community leaders and other interest groups in the town felt the need for the development of some facilities in the town. It is in this promise that a clear latent demand for these included an ultra modern palace, magnificent town hall, post office, periodic market, community secondary school just to mention a few.
Apart from the fund raising ceremony organized to award scholarships to deserving indigene in the 60’s, the first Modakeke Akoraye day took place in December, 1984. The community thus unwillingly found herself as a pace setter and front runner in this veritable tool for mass participation in community development. Other projects executed through the fund so raised include:
(1) Ultra-modern Palace
(2) A Modern Police Station
(3) A Post Office with a befitting post master’s accommodation
(4) Olorunsogo Market – a Daily periodic Market for the town
(5) A Customary Court
(6) A Community Grammar School along Toro road
(7) Ogunsua Grammar School (Established in Jan. 1995)
(8) An Ultra-modern Town Hall – still under construction
(9) NEPA control Room
It is worthy of note that the self help innovation towards the growth and development of Modakeke which brought about Akoraye day has turned out to be accepted as a veritable instrument for the purpose of fund raising for various development projects in many parts of Nigeria today.
